AM: Affiliate Manager  – The person responsible for managing an affiliate program for a merchant.

AOV: Average Order Value – The average amount of money a customer spends on an order.

BHO: Browser Helper Object – A software program that adds functionality to a web browser.


CPA: Cost Per Action – An affiliate marketing model where the affiliate gets paid for a specific action, such as a sale, lead, or sign-up.

CPC: Cost Per Click – An advertising model where the advertiser pays each time someone clicks on their ad.

CPL: Cost Per Lead – An affiliate marketing model where the affiliate gets paid for generating a lead, such as a sign-up or email address.

CPM: Cost Per Mille – An advertising model where the advertiser pays for every 1,000 impressions of their ad.

CPA: Cost Per Acquisition/Sale – An affiliate marketing model where the affiliate gets paid for a sale generated through their affiliate link.

Deeplink: These are customised URLs designed specifically for mobile apps. They contain information that tells the app where to direct you upon clicking the link. This could be a specific product page within a shopping app, an article within a news app, or even a particular level in a game.

Earnings per click, this is often misleading. In reality, EPC numbers more frequently reflect EPHC, or earnings per 100 clicks sent by affiliates to the merchant’s website. The formula for calculating EPC is EPC = Profit ÷ Clicks × 100

EPC: Earnings Per Click – The average amount of commission an affiliate earns per click on their affiliate link.

EPM: Earnings Per Mille – The average amount of commission an affiliate earns per 1,000 impressions of their affiliate link.

FV Conversion Rate The percentage of first-time visitors who convert.

LTV: Lifetime Value – The total value a customer brings to a business over their lifetime.

OPM: Outsourced Affiliate Program Manager – A person who manages an affiliate program for a merchant on a freelance or contract basis.

PPP: Pay Per Click – Another term for CPC.

PPA: Pay Per Action – Another term for CPA.

ROAS: Return on Ad Spend

ROI: Return On Investment – A metric used to measure the profitability of an investment.
